University City, so called for the presence of several institutions of higher learning, was the first suburb, now an incorporated district, of Philadelphia. It is located in West Philadelphia.

It is home to the University of Pennsylvania, Drexel University, University of the Sciences in Philadelphia, Lincoln University Urban Center, and The Restaurant School at Walnut Hill College.
