Uni Records

Uni Records was a subsidiary of MCA Records. It was first active in the 1960s and early 1970's, but the logo was retired (along with two other MCA subsidiarys, Kapp Records and Decca Records) in 1972, with all Uni and Kapp artists, back catalog and new releases being moved directly to the MCA label.

In 1988, Uni was revived by MCA/Universal Music as a niche label, with Eric B. & Rakim, Swans, and Steve Earle the initial artists on the roster. They ended up the only artists on the label, as Uni and its artists (except for Swans, who were dropped) was folded back into MCA at the end of 1989.
