One goal of the foundation is to ensure that the Ubuntu Linux distribution remains fully supported for an extended period of time (3 years for desktops; 5 years for servers for designated releases, 6.04 being the first). Other goals include continuing to produce new releases of the distribution, and keeping the distribution as free software and free of charge to users.
