U.S. District Court for the Central District of California
The U.S. District Court for the Central District of California (commonly referred to as the CDCA or CACD) has responsibility for only seven counties. However, those counties are home to 17 million people, making it the largest federal judicial district by population. Because its jurisdiction encompasses Hollywood, the CDCA often hears cases involving the entertainment industry and famous celebrities. One particularly notable United States Supreme Court case that originated in this court was MGM Studios, Inc. v. Grokster, Ltd., (04-0480), 545 U. S. ____ (2005).
