Tyrone Power (1795-1841)
William Henry Grattan Tyrone Power (1795–March 17,1841) known professionally as Tyrone Power was an Irish stage actor, comedian, author, and theatrical manager.

Born in Kilmacthomas, County Waterford, Ireland to a landed family he took to the stage achieving prominance throughout the world as an actor and manager. He is said to have purchased the land that would later be occupied by Madison Square Garden, New York shortly before his death at sea when his ship sank shortly after departing for England. The lawyer who held the papers was then unable to be found so the Power family were unable to claim right to the property.

He was the progenitor of a number of notable individuals. His eldest son Sir William James Tyrone Power 1819–1911 was Commissary General in Chief of the British Army. His great-grandson by the latter's daughter Norah was the British theatrical director Sir Tyrone Guthrie. His grandson by his youngest son Harold Littledale Power, Tyrone Power, Sr. was a renowned theatre and silent movie star, and his great-grandson by the latter, Tyrone Power was the Hollywood star of the 1930s–1950s. He had two other sons, namely Maurice Power 1821–1848 who initially trained as a barrister but later took up acting, and Frederick Power 1824–1896 a civil engineer who left a large estate of £197,000 Pound sterling at his death, also two daughters Flora 1826–aft.1860 and Mary 1834–aft.1860.
