Ty Detmer
Ty Hubert Detmer (born October 30, 1967 in San Marcos, Texas), is an American football quarterback who starred at Brigham Young University before beginning his pro career.
College career
In college, Detmer was a starter as a freshman in 1988. As a four year starter in an offense based on passing, he set 58 NCAA records. Among those records were the marks for completions (958), attempts (1530), passing yards (15,031), and touchdowns (121). The highpoint of his career was passing for 406 yards and 3 touchdowns in BYU's 28-21 upset victory over top-ranked Miami (FL) during the 1990 season.

Additionally, Detmer was named an All-American in both 1990 and 1991. He also won the Heisman Trophy after the 1990 season. Many believed he would turn pro after the 1990 season, but Detmer returned to BYU where he finished third in voting for the Heisman in 1991.
