Trinity University is a Roman Catholic university located in Washington, D.C.. Founded in 1897 by the Sisters of Notre Dame as a liberal arts college for women, the university now admits men at the graduate level to the School of Education and the School of Professional Studies . Enrollment to the undergraduate Colleges, however, is still limited to women. On September 10, 2004, the name of the school changed from Trinity College to Trinity University.

The School of Education offers late afternoon, evening and weekend classes and select full-time day programs.

The university's School of Professional Studies is designed for women and men seeking to advance or change their careers. The School of Professional Studies also offers employers customized, on-site training and classes.

Total enrollment in all three schools is about 2000. The university has 59 faculty, 95% of whom have earned a doctorate or equivalent. In sports, Trinity competes in the NCAA Division III in basketball, crew, field hockey, lacrosse, soccer, softball, swimming, tennis, track and field and volleyball. The school has a local reputation for the Trinity Center for Women in Sports, a state-of-the-art athletic facility.
