In poetry, a trimeter is a metre of three metrical feet per line - example:

~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~

~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~

: When here the spring we see,

~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~

: Fresh green upon the tree.

~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~
