Tribadism

Tribadism is a sexual practice where two women rub their vulvae against one another for clitoral stimulation. Women who engage in this practice are called "Tribades."

The act is sometimes referred to as "tribbing". Colloquially it is known as "bumping fur," "scissoring," or "scissorfighting." Tribadism, and tribbing, are not currently colloquial in the US.

Tribbing can be said to fall under the general category of frottage that includes other sexual rubbing.

Less commonly known presently are (from ancient Chinese texts) polishing mirrors (?? m? j?ng), as well as, in some locales, the terms donut bumping, slamming clams or train spotting.

The US bands the Scissor Sisters and Scissorfight are named after this term for the act. The lesbian punk band Tribe 8 also takes its name from this.
