Trewellard
Trewellard is a small village on the north coast road between St Just and St Ives in Cornwall, England. It is situated 7 miles from Lands End and 7 miles from Penzance. It is in the parish of Pendeen and Morvah. It currently boasts two restaurants a pub and a garage. There is also a small rural industrial estate. It is in an area of outstanding natural beauty and Special Scientific Interest due to the ancient tin workings and the penultimate working tin mine in Cornwall, Geevor, that closed finally in 1990. Geevor is now a museum. The Village has changed dramatically in the last 20 years. Three new estates have been built. They, along with the older council estate are built from concrete blocks and do not sit well in the granite landscape nor do they match the 150 year old+ granite terraces of the centre of the village. In 2004 Penwith District Council designated the centre of the village as a conservation area. This means that planning permission can be more difficult to obtain and gardens are being sold off for building plots. The Methodist Chapel finally closed in 2005 due to the aging population. House prices are now higher than the national average after being well below before.
