Treasure Coast
Florida?s Treasure Coast stretches from Stuart, Florida in the south through Vero Beach in the north, and covers Martin County,St. Lucie County and Indian River County. Media coverage also considers the landlocked county, Okeechobee County as part of the Treasure Coast. The Treasure Coast name refers to a number of ships, including those of the Spanish treasure fleet, that are believed to have sunk off the coast during the 17th and 18th centuries. Valuable artifacts from these ships are still being recovered today, both by amateur and professional treasure-hunters.
