TransLink was created in 1998 by the Government of British Columbia to replace BC Transit in the Greater Vancouver Regional District (GVRD), and take over many of the transportation responsibilities that previously were responsibilities of the provincial government. It is responsible for various modes of transportation in the Greater Vancouver Area. Some of these operations extend into the Fraser Valley Regional District (FVRD).
