Traffic warden

A Traffic Warden is a member of civilian staff employed by a British police force to assist in regulating the flow of traffic. The number of Traffic Wardens in Great Britain has dropped significantly over the past ten years because the Road Traffic Act 1991 gave local authorities the power to employ parking attendants to monitor parking regulations. The Metropolitan Police recently has merged the roles of Traffic Wardens and Police Community Support Officer to create the Traffic Police Community Support Officer role. These people have the powers of a Police Community Support Officer and a Traffic Warden.
