Tough guy
The Tough guy (also sometimes referred to as "the badass") is a stock character archetype. A typical anti-hero, he usually uses attitude and no-nonsense demeanor to get what he wants, even if he is a protagonist. Nowadays, this character is most prevalent in mob movies. In the past, actors like James Cagney and Edward G. Robinson virtually made a living playing such characters.
