Torry Holt


 

Torry Jabar Holt (born June 5, 1976 in Greensboro, North Carolina) is an American football player, currently playing wide receiver for the St. Louis Rams and is widely reconized as one of today's top wide recievers. He is the older brother of Detroit Lions safety Terrence Holt. Torry attended North Carolina State University from 1995-1999, played wide receiver for the football team and in 1998 was named Atlantic Coast Conference Offensive Player of the Year. Holt was the sixth overall draft pick in the 1999 NFL draft and the first selection made by the St. Louis Rams. In his rookie season he posted 53 receptions, 788 total yards and six touchdowns on the way to a Super Bowl championship. Since then Holt has reached atleast 1,300 yards for five consective seasons and double-digit touchdowns for the past two.

Attended Eastern Guilford High School and became a successful football athlete, earning All-State honors, excelled not only as a wide receiver, but also as a defensive back and kick returner. In 1994 attended Hargrave Military Academy in Virginia due to insufficient SAT scores. Selected as a Prep Football Report All American. Chose North Carolina State because his mother was dying of cancer and wanted to stay close to home.

Attended North Carolina State from 1995-1999, played wide receiver for the football team. Torry became an impact player with great hands and speed and in 1998 was named ACC Offensive Player of the Year. Currently holds three football records at NC State:
