Tony Visconti


 

Tony Visconti (born April 24, 1944) is a record producer, and often an instrumentalist or singer, who has had a long and illustrious career working with some of the best known popular music artists from the late 1960s onwards, notably T. Rex, David Bowie, Thin Lizzy, Sparks, Gentle Giant, The Stranglers, and most recently the Manic Street Preachers on their Lifeblood album.

Visconti's association with Bowie stretched (off and on) from 1969's Space Oddity album (though not the title track), through to 2003's Reality.

Visconti was married from 1971 to 1981 to Mary Hopkin, and they had one child. He was also married to May Pang from 1989 to 2000, with whom he had two children.

He was born in Brooklyn, New York City, but has lived in London for almost all of his adult life.
