Tony James
Tony James was originally the bassist for the British punk band Generation X along with Billy Idol on the guitar, John Towe on the drums and Gene October as the singer. They were formed in London in 1976. When they disintegrated in 1981, they went their different ways, Idol becoming a big star in the United States. ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~

~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ Tony James formed glam punk band Sigue Sigue Sputnik in the 1980s. His "space bass" became the "sput style" trademark. ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ In 1990 he became a member of The Sisters of Mercy and played bass on the Vision Thing album and the band's following live tours. James left the Sisters the following year. ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ He still tours today, and has teamed up with Mick Jones of The Clash to form Carbon/Silicon, now playing guitar. ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~
