Tom Leykis

Tom Leykis (born August 1, 1956 in The Bronx, New York) is a radio talk show host, syndicated nationally and internationally (USA and formerly in Canada) by Westwood One.

The Tom Leykis Show

The Tom Leykis Show is broadcast from Los Angeles and may be heard live in the area, from 3 to 7 p.m. PST Monday-Friday. It covers a variety of topics, often based on events in Leykis's life, news stories, and listener e-mails, with a focus on male-female relationships, sex, marriage, and dating. The show includes segments such as "Flash Fridays", in which females listeners in the Greater Los Angeles metropolitan area are encouraged to flash their breasts at male listeners in other cars while driving in rush-hour traffic, and "Leykis 101", in which "the Professor" (Leykis) teaches male listeners his rules for dating. The goal of these rules is to help men get the most sex for the least effort and money possible. Three of his general principles are that a man should never spend a lot of money to impress a woman, should stop dating a woman if she refuses to have intercourse within their first three dates, and should never date single mothers. When a caller calls in and asks for advice regarding a woman he is dating who is not having sex with the caller, Tom typically says "dump that bitch", accompanied by booming sound effect. Tom's justification for advising against dating single mothers is that in California, some men have been ordered by the courts to pay child support to their former wives even though they were not the biological fathers of the children and the wives had them from previous relationships or marriages.

"Blow me up, Tom"

"Blowing up" is a long running tradition featured on Leykis's show. When a caller has nothing more to say, he asks Tom to "blow him up" by saying to him "blow me up Tom". This is followed by the sound of an explosion. At that point, the call is ended. When confronted with particularly infuriating or belligerent callers, Tom may blow the caller up without warning.
