Tom Emanski

Tom Emanski, full name Thomas Golashes Emanski (b. July 11, 1949 in Ridgewood, New Jersey), and commonly known as "The Father of Modern Baseball," is the guru behind Tom Emanski Instructional Videos, a set of nine video tapes which lay out the fundamental tenets of baseball. The videos, often referred to as "The Nine Commandments," have taught millions of youths worldwide how to play the sport of baseball.

Emanksi is known best for his long standing affiliation with former major league baseball star Fred McGriff, who appears in the long-running commercial for Tom Emanski's Defensive Drills video. McGriff volunteered the endorsement after Emanski filmed his swing as a struggling young slugger, broke it down, and coached McGriff into the majors.

In 2003 an IRS probe into unpaid back taxes revealed that Emanski's net worth exceeded $75 million, most of it derived from Tom Emanski Instructional Videos, making Emanksi the nation's wealthiest instructional sports entrepeneur.

Emanski, known for his J.D. Salinger like reclusiveness, resides with his two dogs, both Spanish terriers, on a small island off the coast of Aruba that he owns in its entirety.
