Toluene diisocyanate
Toluene diisocyanate (TDI) is a chemical compound from the group of isocyanates. It is used as monomer feedstock for polyurethane production.

TDI is produced commercially by reacting toluenediamine (a mixture of 2,4-diaminotoluene and 2,6-diaminotoluene, usually in a ratio of 80:20) with phosgene, COCl2, giving TDI with hydrogen chloride, HCl, as a co-product.

TDI can react with an alcohol to produce a urethane linkage. It is reactive and toxic. Exposure to TDI and its vapors should be avoided.
