Tokyo Institute of Technology
Tokyo Institute of Technology (東京工業大学), often called Tokyo Tech for short, is the largest institution of higher learning in Japan dedicated to science and technology.

It was founded in 1881 in Tokyo as the Tokyo Vocational School. In 1929, it was elevated to the status of national university, and has since April 2004 been incorporated (i.e. semi-privatised) under a new law which applies to all national universities.
