Lockdown was unique in that all the matches were Six Sides of Steel Matches, where the hexagonal TNA wrestling ring was totally surrounded by steel fencing. Many fans derided this pay-per-view for the fact that every single match was performed this way, except for the pre-show match, posing an extremely high risk of ending the careers of several wrestlers due to severe injuries. Unfortunately these fears would prove justified when Chris Candido suffered a leg injury that would ultimately cost him his life.
