Titus (sitcom)

Titus was an American dark-comedy sitcom that debuted on the Fox network in 2000. The series was created by its star, Christopher Titus (based on his stand up comedy act, "Norman Rockwell is Bleeding") and was based loosely upon his real-life family. Titus plays an outwardly childish adult (based on himself), who owns a car shop. The show follows him and his dimwitted half-brother Dave, his girlfriend Erin, his goody-goody friend Tommy, and his arrogantly lewd, bigoted and multiply divorced father "Ken (Papa) Titus" (played by Stacy Keach).

Trivia

  • The show is loosely based upon Chris Titus' own life. His specific family members depicted on the show had to sign release forms.
  • In an interview featured on the DVD of Seasons 1 & 2, Chris Titus states that he preferred the cancellation of the show because it pushed the envelope and not because it wasn't funny.
  • The wooden chair in Titus' "neutral space" is the same chair he uses in "Norman Rockwell is Bleeding."
  • A number of different actresses have played Titus' mother, Juanita. This somewhat makes sense within the show, considering how many times Titus' father, Ken, was married.
