Time Inc.
Time Inc. is the publishing arm of media conglomerate Time Warner. Its roots trace back to 1923 through the founding of Time magazine, a newsmagazine that melded together critiques on popular culture and current events, as well as commentaries.
Mergers
Time Inc. merged with Warner Communications in 1990 to create Time Warner, a diversified media company which at the time included recorded music, motion picture production and distribution, television production and distribution, studio facilities, film libraries, cable television networks, book publishing houses, and magazine publishing. The merger was billed as a merger between "old media" (publishing) and "new media" (television, movies, and music). While this held true for the original merger of Time Inc. and Warner Communications, it did not hold true for a disastrous future merger a decade later (the merger of AOL and Time Warner, which was an attempt to unify "old media" and "new media" ).
