Time Inc.

Time Inc. is the publishing arm of media conglomerate Time Warner. Its roots trace back to 1923 through the founding of Time magazine, a newsmagazine that melded together critiques on popular culture and current events, as well as commentaries.

History

Time Inc.'s properties are primarily in book publishing and magazine publishing, although in the 1970's, they were the founding force behind the Home Box Office (HBO) network. A major figurehead in the process was Gerald Levin (who would later go on to helm the then newly formed Time Warner), who headed the HBO division and then later ran Time Inc.
