Tiedemann Giese
Tiedemann Giese (June 1, 1480 - October 23, 1550) of the Patrician family Giese from Gda?sk became bishop of Che?mno, then bishop of Warmia. He was the brother of the famous Hanseatic trademan Georg Giese of Gda?sk.

Maurice Ferber and Tiedemann Giese were priests at the Catholic St. Peter and Paul church, before Gda?sk and the church became protestant reformed. In 1519 he receives a nobleman status (szlachcic).

Bishop Tiedemann Giese was the closest friend of the Polish administrator and churchman Nicolaus Copernicus, who lived in Warmia as well and after his death became known as astronomer. Copernicus willed his writings to Giese and left the Copernican library to the Warmia church administration.
