The creek flows through the Meadowbrook Pond. The pond is visited by migratory birds and an occasional transient beaver. Early in the 1900's the creek was a spawning ground for salmon including the endangered Chinook salmon. However the areas surrounding the creek were developed without regard for the importance of maintaining a riparian corridor and it has now become an urban watershed. For many years part of the stream has run through a culvert in the Northgate neighborhood and the City of Seattle has decided to "daylight" these areas again.
