Thomas Wedgwood
Thomas Wedgwood (1685-1739) was an English potter and the father Josiah Wedgwood, the famous potter. Thomas was the elder son and heir of Thomas Wedgwood and Mary Leigh of Burslem. He was master potter of the Churchyard Work, Burslem. His eldest son, Thomas Wedgwood IV (1716-1773) taught the young Josiah the potter's trade. His daughter Catherine Wedgwood (wife of Rev. WIlliam Willets) was the ancestress of Sir Henry Holland (Queen Victoria's Physician), the Viscount's Knutsford, Earl Buxton (sometime Governor General of South Africa, and the present Duke of Grafton.
