Thomas Drummond


 

Captain Thomas Drummond (1797 - 1840) was a Scottish civil engineer, born in Edinburgh. Drummond was the inventor of the Drummond light which was employed in the trigonometrical survey of Great Britain and Ireland. He became Under-Secretary for Ireland, and was held in high favour by the Irish.
