From 1988 until 12 July 2001, it was presented by husband and wife team Richard Madelely and Judy Finnigan, it this time it was very popular attracting around two million viewers. After they departed the show they were replaced by Coleen Nolan and Twiggy who proved to be ratings failures and were replaced by John Leslie and Fern Britton, who managed to get the ratings to around one million. However in 2002, Leslie was sacked after allegations in the press and was replaced by Phillip Schofield. In 2003, Lorraine Kelly joined the team as presenter on Mondays and Fridays because Fern wanted to spend more time with her children. In the summer of 2005, Richard Bacon and Denise Van Outen temporarily took over the presenting duties, whilst Phillip, Fern and Lorraine were on holiday.

Security guards, though, prevented prolonged exhibitionism. Fred Talbot presented the weather from a large floating map on the Dock. The programme moved to London where it would be easier to attract more celebrity guests.
