Theuderic II of Austrasia

Theuderic II (587-613), king of Burgundy (595-613) and Austrasia (612-613), was the second son of Childebert II. At his father's death in 595, he received the kingdoms of Orleans and Burgundy. He reigned under the guidance of his grandmother Brunhilda, evicted from Austrasia by his brother Theudebert II. With his brother, he succeeded in defeating the king of Neustria, Clotaire II (604). Then, urged on by Brunhilda, he turned against his brother, whom he routed at Toul and at Tolbiac in 612. The death of Theudebert left the kingdom of Austrasia to Theuderic.
