Therizinosauroidea

Therizinosauroidea is a group of theropod dinosaurs within Maniraptora. The clade consists of those "therizinosaurs" that are too basal to belong to Therizinosauridae and of Therizinosauridae itself. One of the former is perhaps Falcarius, discovered in 2005, another is by definition Beipiaosaurus. The clade is defined as the last common ancestor of Therizinosaurus and Beipiaosaurus and all its descendants. Though the name of the group is formed as if it were a "superfamily", it doesn't function as such within modern paleontology.
