The Warriors
The Warriors is a 1979 film directed by Walter Hill about the journey of
Gangs
Along the way, the Warriors encounter the following gangs, from north to south:
~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~
- The Turnbull ACs: A bus-riding, skinhead gang. They look pretty tough, and travel in large numbers. They wear denim jackets and blue jeans.
- The Orphans: A low class gang that doesn't seem very threatening at all. They wear green shirts, with ORPHANS stitched into the back, and blue jeans.
- The Baseball Furies: A gang uniformed as the New York Yankees, weilding baseball bats and wearing facial makeup similar to that of the rock group KISS. It should be noted that the makeup, while like the band KISS's, the Baseball Furies facepaint is multicolored.
- The Lizzies: An all-female gang. At first they seem like no threat to the Warriors, but it's soon learned that the Lizzies are pretty dangerous.
- The Punks: A gang with a leader who strolls around on roller-skates. Each member wears denim overalls, and each member wears a different color striped shirt.
- The Rogues: The gang that framed the Warriors for Cyrus?s assassination. The normal gang members wear black shirts, black leather jackets, black pants, and black leather hats. The gang leader, Luther, wears a grey shirt, a grey zip-up hoodie, a black leather vest, a sheriff's badge, black leather pants, and a faded-out pink-ish headband.
- The Gramercy Riffs: A well-organized gang in martial arts outfits. Cyrus was also the leader of this gang, before he was murdered. The Gramercy Riffs are also said to be the biggest gang in the city. However, at the end of the film, the Gramercy Riffs can be seen wearing black tee shirts and black denim pants.
- The Hurricanes: A gang from Spanish Harlem. Most members wear blue jeans, and either go without shirts, wear a white tank-top, and wear a straw panama hat.
- The Boppers: A more colorful gang. Wears shiny purple vests, ties, and white-ish pants. In recent screenshots from the video game, a Bopper can be seen wearing a yellow undershirt.
- The High-Hats: A gang, that literally looks like a bunch of clowns, or mimes. They wear white face paint, black high hats, black suspenders, black pants and a red long-sleeved shirt, with black stripes on said long sleeves.
- The Electric Eliminators: They wear a silky, yellow colored jacket with the gang sign on the back, and blue jeans.
- The Savage Huns: A gang from Chinatown. They wear green shirts, slightly rolled up brown pants, and odd green hats.
- The Moonrunners: They wear a shiny silver jacket, which has a yellow stripe around both arms, and the gang's logo on the back, and blue jeans.
- Satan's Mothers: Not actually seen in the film, but seen in the theatrical trailer. They wear what seems to be a denim jacket with no sleeves, and the gang's logo on the back.
- The Boyle Avenue Runners: They wear a black tank top with a red trim, and blue jeans. The gang member who appears to be the leader, wears the same tank top, and the jeans, but is wearing a black and white vest, with an odd pattern on it.
- The Gladiators: They wear black tee shirts, and blue jeans. The leader seems to be wearing a black tee shirt, jeans, and a thin, black button up vest.
- The Panzers: They wear blue jeans, hats, shirts, and a long, thin shirt with an army camo design on it. However, from the few gang members that were shown, the color of the shirt is up to the gang member himself.
Besides these gangs, there are many more, which add to the depth of the film. The film's script had many gangs listed, including ones that didn't even appear in the film. The following gangs appeared in the film only a few times, whether it was during the subway scene, or the meeting scene. Most of these gangs, however, will play some kind of role in the upcoming video game.

The film has gained something of a cult status, largely for its impressive stuntwork and gritty, retro feel. The gangs, both the Warriors and their rivals, are not terribly menacing by today's standards. As in A Clockwork Orange, few carry any weapon more dangerous than a baseball bat or knife, and most don identical uniforms that today most would find hard to take seriously: face paint/mime makeup, baseball uniforms, wide-brimmed fedoras, as well as the Warriors' Indian costuming.
