""The Valkryies"" is Coelho's 3 major publication, and his first in the 90s (1992). The rights for it exist in 4 different languages - English, Persian, Portrugese and Spanish - these belong to HarperCollins; Caravan Books; Pergaminho and Planeta DeAgostini respectively.

This book is autobiographical, but told from the third person. It deals with excorsism of personal demons and discovering our strength. It also deals with relationships among people, in this case, Paulo and his wife.

The plot involved Paulo going to the Mojave desert to meet "the Valkryies" themselves, a group of warrior women who travel the desert on motorcycles.

At the beginning of the story, "J", Coelho's master in RAM, shows him a copy of the poem by Blake that says "we destroy what we love" and this theme is central to the story.
