• The teaser trailer uses footage from Das Boot, The Hunt for Red October, and U-571.
• The first swear word in SpongeBob was used when Mr. Krabs was whipsering to SpongeBob in the beginning, it sounded like "jackass" to many people. Paramount edited in DVDs making it sound like "jackwhibble", but the "jackass" is still heard in VHS copies in the movie. Later, King Neptune calls the forged note written by Plankton "Damning". In the end, during SpongeBob's song, the word "freaking" is used. It is disputed that this how the movie got its PG rating.
