The Singing Senators
The Singing Senators was a group of U.S. Republican Senators who sang as a barbershop quartet.
The break up
Ashcroft lost re-election to the Senate in 2000 and was appointed Attorney General, and Jeffords later became an Independent in early June 2001. This breakup was humorously caricatured on The Daily Show, where senior correspondent Stephen Colbert declared on-air that he was a devout fan. This led Colbert to more than a good number of lashings-out at a stunned Jon Stewart, who was dubbed by Colbert as "Officer Fuzz" for not being a fan.
