The Shining (mini-series)

The Shining was a TV miniseries adaptation of Stephen King's novel of the same title. The miniseries first aired in 1997, and was directed by Mick Garris and starred Steven Weber, Courtland Mead and Rebecca DeMornay.

King was widely known to have been unhappy with Stanley Kubrick's take on his work (the acclaimed 1980 feature film The Shining); this provided him with the impetus to re-acquire the rights to write another screenplay. Though it was more faithful to Kings' 1977 novel, The Miniseries was far less critically acclaimed than Kubrick's film.
