The Selmer Company
The Selmer Company is a manufacturer of musical instruments started in Paris, France in the early 1900's and still producing instruments today. They are currently the largest manufacturer of band and orchestral instruments in the United States. Selmer is primarily known for its high-quality woodwind instruments, especially saxophones. Selmer was often the preferred brand of well-known jazz artists such as John Coltrane, Charlie Parker, Benny Goodman, and Coleman Hawkins.

In 1995 the parent company Selmer Industries merged with Steinway Musical Instruments, the parent company of Steinway & Sons, the well-known piano maker. In 2003 the Selmer Company subsidiary was merged with the C.G. Conn company (makers of brass instruments) to form the Conn-Selmer company. Selmer manufactures instruments in Elkhart, Indiana and Paris, France.
