The Samples

The Samples are a band formed in Boulder, Colorado in 1987. The music has been described as "slightly jazzy pop" and a cross between Sting and the Grateful Dead http://www.allmusic.com/cg/amg.dll?p=amg&sql=11:obkbu3y5an4k. After a bad incident with a major label in which their contract was revoked after two months, the band began to tour and release albums independently. The band's name came from the members' early sustenance of food samples from the local King Soopers grocery store. They have been featured on The Tonight Show and in the H.O.R.D.E. tour.
