The Ringworld Engineers is a novel by Larry Niven first published in 1980. It is the first sequel to Ringworld.

Niven says the novel was in part written due to fan response to Ringworld, both because of its popularity, and to clear up many engineering problems in the first book left undiscussed. The book also covers the multitude of hominid species that have evolved on the ringworld in more depth.
