The Return of Godzilla

The Return of Godzilla (sometimes known as Godzilla 1985) is a 1984 film. Part of the Toho studio's Godzilla series, it was directed by Koji Hashimoto with special effects by Teruyoshi Nakano. The score was composed by Reijiro Koroku.

This was the last Godzilla film made in the Showa period (Godzilla Vs. Biollante was the first Heisei-era film). But in either case, this was the first of the second series of films (the "VS Series", referred to as the "Heisei Series" by American fans). It was the intent of the producer to try to restore some of the characteristics of the early films in the series. Therefore Godzilla 1985 disregards all other films making "1985" a direct sequel to the first Godzilla film.
