The Promise
The Promise is a novel written by Chaim Potok. It is a sequel to the novel The Chosen. it follows the lives of Reuven Malter as he learns to become a rabbi, and of Daniel (Danny) Sunders as he tries to establish himself as a psychologist. Together, they try to cure a boy from a serious mental illness. It is a first-person narrative from the point of view of Reuven Malter.

The Promise unlike "The Chosen" begins with Rauven and Danny as old friends. It has many similarities to "The Chosen". To have a much better understanding of Mr. Potok's two novels it would be benaficial to read them in the order they were written, although it's not necessary to do so as each novel is a story in itself.
