In addition to Pooh, Piglet, Tigger, Rabbit, Eeyore, Owl, Kanga, Roo, and Christopher Robin, there are also new characters that were not in Milne's stories, such as Gopher, Christopher Robin's mother, Owl's cousin Dexter, Kessie the Bluebird, Junior Heffalump (and his parents), Skippy the Sheepdog, Stan Woozle & Heff Heffalump, and other characters.

One notable difference between the television series and the Pooh movies is that on the television program, Christopher Robin speaks with a distinctly American accent; in the films, he has an English accent.

Recently, The New Adventures of Winnie the Pooh was removed entirely from Toon Disney thanks to bad scheduling and the addition of Jetix, and is now only seen daily at 6:00 A.M on The Disney Channel following Disney's short-lived The Book of Pooh.
