The Money Pit is an American comedy starring Tom Hanks and Shelley Long. The 1986 film follows a young couple forced to move into a new home after being effectively evicted from the apartment of the wife (Long). The end up buying a fixer-upper mansion that ends up taking more work that appears. The film was a hit when first released, making nearly $40 million on a $10 million budget, though it received poor reviews from established critics.
