The Manual: How to Have a Number One the Easy Way is a 1989 book (ISBN 0863596169, 1899858652) released under the name of The Timelords, also known as The Justified Ancients of Mu Mu furthermore known as The KLF. It is a tongue-in-cheek guide to scamming the music industry written by former music industry manager Bill Drummond. The book is written a step by step guide to achieving a No.1 single with no money, it is also a case study of the duo's 1988 UK novelty pop No. 1 "Doctorin' the Tardis," a mix of Gary Glitter, The Sweet and the Doctor Who theme. ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~
