History
When The Dana Carvey Show first appeared, it was greeted with above average reviews and a lukewarm response from the audience. And despite the fact that ABC only aired 3 of the 11 shows produced, it has maintained a small but loyal following. The official reason for the cancellation of the show was poor ratings, but many of the sketches and Carvey's own monologues would regularly make fun of the show's sponsors, who gradually pulled their support of the show. This most likely made ABC's position as solicitors of the sponsors untenable.

Carvey, along with Mike Myers, in the Wayne's World movie, parodied the use of sponsor plugs by being excessively nice to the sponsors throughout the movie.
