The Curse of the Shaq
The Curse of Shaq or The Curse of the Shaq-bino (curse supposedly began in 2004 or 1996) is an imaginary curse meant to explain the unsuccessful record of the Los Angeles Lakers. The term appears to have been coined by Shaquille O'Neal himself.

The origin of the story was a supposed feud between Kobe Bryant and Shaq over why they lost to the Detroit Pistons in the summer of 2004. Shaq was eventually traded to the Miami Heat, and eventually collapsing the Lakers. Some consider the Miami Heat's successful 2004-05 season an evidence of a "curse", as well as the Lakers' failure to make the playoffs that year. Some people believe that the only way break the curse as if they bring back Shaq, trade Kobe away (some people believe he is responsible for the curse), or if the Lakers win an NBA title.
