The Crossing (novel)
The Crossing is the second installment of Cormac McCarthy's "Border Trilogy". Like its predesscor, All The Pretty Horses, it is a coming-of-age novel revolving around the Border between Texas and Mexico. It is set before and during the Second World War, and tells of Billy Parham and his younger brother Boyd making three trips from New Mexico to Mexico, attempting to complete three tasks. It is noted for being a more melancholic novel than the first of the trilogy, without returning to the hellish bleakness of McCarthy's early novels.
