Plot
Set in a POW camp after the Battle of Dunkirk, the film follows the lives of nine separate men. The main story involves one of the British officers, Capt. Geoffrey Mitchell. He is in fact Capt. To avoid being detected, he corresponds with Mitchell's wife Celia, sending love letters. Celia falls in love as a result of the letters; she and her husband had a cool relationship before the war. After Hasek's POW camp is liberated, he "returns" to England, where he meets with Celia. She realises that she loves Hasek and they decide to stay together.
