The Book of Laughter and Forgetting
Milan Kundera's 1979 novel. Composed of seven stand-alone parts, The Book of Laughter and Forgetting appears at first to be a collection of short stories rather than a novel. But a novel it is - unified not by narrative but by themes. The main book's theme being the forgetting in history, in politics and life in general.
